Renowned Journalist Bob Woodward to Keynote RISMedia’s Power Broker Dinner
Famed investigative journalist for the Washington Post and prolific non-fiction author, Bob Woodward, will serve as the special guest speaker at RISMedia’s upcoming Power Broker Dinner on Nov. 7 in New Orleans. Woodward’s presentation is sponsored by the event’s Diamond-level sponsor, Bank of America Home Loans.
Responsible for crucial contributions that led to the Washington Post receiving two Pulitzer Prizes—one in 1973 for the newspaper’s coverage of the Watergate scandal, and one in 2002 for its coverage of the September 11 terrorist attacks—Woodward has received nearly every major American journalism award, including the Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Reporting and the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Reporting on the Presidency.
Woodward is perhaps best known for serving with Carl Bernstein as lead reporters on Watergate. Woodward and Bernstein were assigned to report on the June 17, 1972 burglary of the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee in a Washington, D.C. office building called Watergate. Their work, under editor Benjamin C. Bradlee, was the first to report on political "dirty tricks" used by the Nixon re-election committee. Their book about the scandal, “All the President's Men,” became a No. 1 bestseller and was later turned into a movie. The 1976 film, starring Robert Redford as Woodward and Dustin Hoffman as Bernstein, transformed the reporters into celebrities and inspired a wave of interest in investigative journalism.
Woodward has been reporting for the Washington Post since 1971 and currently serves as its associate editor. Additionally, he has authored 17 best-selling, non-fiction books, the most recent of which, “The Price of Politics,” is based on 18 months of reporting that examined how President Obama, and Republican and Democratic leaders attempted to restore the American economy and the government’s fiscal condition.
During RISMedia’s 19th Annual Power Broker Reception & Dinner, taking place on Nov. 7 in the Grand Ballroom of the New Orleans Marriott, Woodward will provide an insider’s look on the current political environment in Washington, D.C., and the conflict in the Middle East.
